Rebased version of newFieldMaps branch for merging with master

Pierre-Alain Loizeau requested to merge p.-a.loizeau/cbmroot_input:newFieldMaps_rebased into master

Avoids having to remove the existing branch as it was used for the FEB23 release

Only difference with newFieldMaps is removal of the commit tuning the CI pipeline for the branch.
